Demo news story

MARTHA: WHAT YOU NEED TO DO EACH TIME YOU DO A NEWS STORY IS:

1. Click on the Text Tab above (you will see it when you are in edit and adding a new post). At the top of the post insert <!–more–> (copy and paste this from a previous News post – sorry it’s a faff but hopefully will become second nature – the easiest way is to open an extra tab, go in to edit for on an old News post). It’s the only way to get around what we had to do on the Horses sections. You must be in Text mode both when you copy and when you paste.
2. You can then go back to Visual mode, and add your text, like I have done below. If you are copy and pasting your text, having written it elsewhere, before pasting click on the T icon in the strip at the top (2nd row, pale T on a dark box). Then paste. That will strip out any hidden code and styling that might otherwise transfer in.
3. The photo below is 400 pixels wide. Make all news stories this size (at 72dpi) Keeping all landscape and 400 wide will make it look neater.
4. When published you won’t see the <!–more–> , the story will start as per below….
